Picturesque Dhulikhel

Daman - Short Intro

Gorkha - A major local attraction

The land of the Gurkhas The name Gorkha evokes images of fierce warriors wielding khukris; renowned for their bravery and total disregard for danger. Gorkha is the name of the town and the district from which these fearless tribes hailed.  Once a tiny Himalayan kingdom ruled by the Shah dynasty, It was from here that Prithvinarayan Shah, ancestor of the present king marched his Gorkhali army into the heart of Kathmandu and overthrew the ruling Malla king.

Nagarkot

Nagarkot is a village located about 25 miles east of Kathmandu, Nepal. It is located on the northeastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley at an elevation close to 6,800 feet above sea level. Tansen

Situated at the southern slope of the Mahabharat range; about half way from the Indian border to Pokhara and the Himalayas, this town offers an opportunity to experience genuine Nepalese culture, away from westernized places like Thamel in Kathmandu or Lakeside in Pokhara. Gorkha

25 kilometer road off the main highway connecting Pokhara and Kathmandu brings you to an ancient Gorkha - the untouched and captivating town of Nepal! Some 300 years ago, Nepal was divided into 50 tiny states, and Gorkha was one of them. King Prithivi Narayan Shah, the founder of `Shah Dynasty' which runs Nepal today, unified Nepal into one kingdom. His Gorkha palace resides on top of a hill at an altitude of 3281 feet (about 1000 meter) The King would watch-over his people as far as his eyes could see from the tallest palace in the very center of Nepal! Gorkha is also the home of Gurkhas - the legendary brave warriors who fought with knives against guns.
