Intership Nepal: Working in an Orphanage

There are more than two hundred orphanages in existence in Kathmandu valley alone. We choose one of the orphanages for our volunteer as their nature of work. We can also arrange such placement in rural areas of the country.

An important skill that volunteers can provide while at an orphanage is Basic English language teaching to children. Besides teaching, orphanages often operate several creative programs such as games, nutrition, and sanitation.

Orphanages welcome active participation in administrative works, health education, games, and drawing and painting creatively with the children. With your service to these poor children, you will be able to change the meaning and perspective of life that these orphans grow up with as they reach towards adulthood. The work is a great mission and ideally provides a true life-changing experience for you. Some orphanages are informal and basically serve as informal education training centers.

I would very much like to know more about your program in helping within an orphanage in whatever capacity you may feel fit. I can teach English and/or involved with the everyday activities you deem appropriate. I will be going to Nepal Jan 8th, 2011 to stay at the Kopan Monastry for a 10 day retreat, and then some tourist sightseeing. I am also a FreeLance writer and aim to write about my experiences whilst in Nepal.
I look forward to your reply,
    Warmly,
    Ms. Dee Waters
