Nepalis one of the poorest countries in the world. It suffers from corruption; its
economy is in a sad state; human rights are violated here. Tourism plays a
significant role in the country. Nepalis rather popular with professional travelers and bag packers. The country
attracts tourists by its ancient history and fantastic beauty of nature.
Besides, rafting is extremely popular in Nepal.
A special category of tourism has recently appeared in Nepal– rural or village tourism. It offers tourists the possibility to acquaint
with, probably, the most precious wealth of the country: its culture, customs
and traditions. As a rule, tourists in Nepalstay in resorts, built especially for this purpose, as well as in hand-made
tents. Rural tourism allows them to acquaint with life and culture of local
citizens.
Most citizens of Nepallive in villages, and tourists have the opportunity to stay in one of them.
Thus, tourists can not only observe the village life from the outside, but also
take an active part in it. Tourists do not change the local citizens’ way of
life. It remains the same. Tourists eat everyday food of simple people and have
the opportunity to take a part in rural life.
There is one more advantage of this type of tourism as
compared to traditional tourism. The money spent by the tourists goes directly
to local citizens. If the rural tourism goes on developing, it shall be able to
play an important role in development of the country and lower the level of
poverty. Local administration provides significant support to this type of
tourism.
Council of Tourism plans to implement programs on planting
forests, as well as on conservation in order to facilitate development of the
tourism industry. However, it should be mentioned that specialists consider
rural tourism to be rather dangerous: it may destroy culture and way of life of
the ingenuous population.

When we talked about Village Tourism/Rural Tourism,it is naturally to prounce the name of Dr Surendra Bhakta Pradhanang of Nepal who propounded the concept of Village tourism.I read the website on Rural tourism here, but it is most important to mention Dr Pradhanang's contribution and effort in developing Rural Tourism/Village Tourism. For Nepal and Nepalese,it is a glory to take the name of Nepali National who gave such a brilliant idea for the welfare of Nepal and world.Dr Pradhanang who is the pioneer of Village Tourism/Rural Tourism gave his research based and innovative concept to the people of Nepal and world.Later Dr Pradhanang was awarded with' Father of Village Tourism in Nepal ' which is Nepal's glory and happiness to all Nepalese.
