| A lot can happen in one month in Nepal.
Plans can go astray, and life can end up more exciting than you had expected.
The initial plans for my last month in Nepal were to start with two weeks of
hard kayaking, compete in an international kayaking competition and then spend
the last week working on a project teaching kayaking to Nepalese children. |

| For me, initially springing to mind when I think of white
water is automatically New Zealand or Canada, two countries generating hype for
having some of the most ferocious and spectacular rivers in the world. It never
crossed my mind that Nepalcould offer amazing adrenaline pumping white water to warrant being rated along
with some of the worlds finest. |

| Nepal is paradise for the Rafting, as it has earned the reputation of being one the best destinations for white water Rafting. The rivers in Nepal are the best among the rivers in the world for river rafting sports, and no doubt white water rafting in Nepal is never-ending thrills in the untamed rivers. |

| All forward !!! "Stop !!!" Topsang recited the
drill of instructions we were to follow before we set off white water rafting
in the river Trisuli in Nepal.
In the mountainous regions near Kathmandu, the speed of
the water is high and therefore ideal for rafting. |

| The Sun Koshi ‘River of Gold’ has been rated as one of
the top ten rafting trips in the world! It is also in the list of ‘must do while in Nepal’.The river
rises near Shisha Pangma in Tibet and runs eastwards, draining the highest
mountains of the world before emerging on the plains of India, where it joins
the Ganges. |

| The "raging river", drains the northern slope of
the Annapurna mountains. It was only opened to rafting
in 1996 and yields some of the most exciting class iv-v white water in Nepal.
This river demands 100% Commitment from both crew and guide. |

| We leave Kathmandu in the early
morning and drive to Damauli, our put in point. After the rafts are rigged we
will set off down the Seti Khola. We spend the whole day within its forested
canyon. The luxuriant vegetation we see is a remnant of the vast forested area,
which once covered the middle hills of Nepal. |

longest and largest river, the Karnali, springs forth from the base of Mt. Kailash in Tibet,
the center of the universe for both the Buddhist and Hindu religions. Flowing
south into Nepalit forms the major drainage system of the western districts. |

| The Kali begins its journey high on the Tibetan plateau in
the kingdom of Mustang.
Plunging its way down through the Himalayas, the river
carves the deepest gorge in the world between the two 8000m peaks Dhaulagiriand Annapurna. The Kali Gandaki was first opened to
commercial use in 1991. |
