Helambu Gosainkunda Trekking Nepal - 14 Days

This is the most easily accessible of all areas from Kathmandu. It lies about 70k.m north of Kathmandu valley, is an area inhabited by sherpas. The language , culture and dress of the Helambu sherpas are very different from those of Solu khumbu sherpas. Gosaikunda is one of the hindu holy place and is considerd to be made by Lord Shiva. The Buddhist Tamang that live nearby also revere it as their holy place. Every August on full moon night lake is thronged with pilgrims for a big festival. On other days the lake sits in a tranquil atmosphere.

During the trek you will see spectacular views of Langtang (7245m), Ganesh Himal (7405m), Dorje Lhakpa (6990m) and other small mountains of Langtang Himalayan range. This trek takes you to the complex topography and geology, together with the varied climatic conditions of Langtang National Park, giving a wide spectrum of vegetation types (including a sub-tropical forest). Langtang and Gosainkund area covered with 108 holy Lakes. Culturally the area is mixed; the home of several groups including Tamang, Sherpa, Cherti and Brahaman people.

This is one of the most popular short and medium range treks in Nepal with many attractions: scenic grandeur, glimpse of Sherpa & Tamang life, rhododendron forest, lakes, glaciers & snow mountains. The trek begins from Dhunche and the trail leads up to Kyanchin Gompa and passes the sacred lake, Gosainkunda (4602m.). Exploring colorful Helambu region with delightful Sherpa villages, the trek ends in Kathmandu. A stunningly picturesque region affords superb panoramic views of Himalayas stretching from the Annapurnas to Mt. Everest and is really an ideal destination for short trek.

Day 13: Royal Chitwan National Park / Kathmandu
