The Dakshinkali and Champadevi hike

The Dakshinkali and Champadevi hike

Season: All the year round

Duration: 01 day

Mountain sights: Gaurishankar , Langtang range, Dorje Lakpa  etc

Highlights: Hindu animal sacrifice practice, encounter with rural life, visiting Newari village and beautiful view of Kathmandu valley and the Himalayan Panorama

We take an early breakfast in Kathmandu and drive for about one hour to Dakhinkali Shrine located at the foot of southern hill in the valley. This lively shrine is situated on the side of a stream among the thick jungle. On Tuesday and Saturday one can watch the Hindu animal sacrifice practices there. Devotees from the surrounding villages and the local agricultural product market gives good insight to Village life.

Our next place of interest is the beautiful and traditional Newari villlage of Pharping. Then we climb the hill of Champadevi for about two and half hour and have our lunch there. From here you can see the whole kathmandu valley.

We then descend and visit the two villages of Bungmati and Khokhana by walking along the trails used by farmers in the open farmland. These two Newari villages are famous for their unspoiled culture and architecture. Our Vehicle will take us back to Kathmandu in about one hour drive.
