Kongma Tse (Mehra) Peak Expedition - 5849m - 25 Days
Kongma Tse stands above the Khumbu Glacier opposite Lobuche
and it is called as Mehra Peak too. It is one of several summits, including
Pokhalde, that make up the long southwest ridge of Nuptse carved out between
the Khumbu and Nuptse Glaciers. The views of the massive south face of Nuptse,
Pumori to the north and the Lho La are simply spectacular from the summit. The
usual route to the mountain follows the Everest base camp route until leaving
that trail to gain the Imja Valley and the east side of the Kongma La. The primary
routes of ascent are from the south and cross several moraines between 2 well
marked lakes below the snout of the glacier. Gain the glacier on its western
side and find the easiest lines up its true right bank below the South Ridge of
the mountain or along its true left bank below the Southeast Ridge. At the head
of the glacier climb broken rocks and snow to gain the south ridge and follow
this to the summit.
